Finishing Manager

Summary 

The finishing area produces Work in Progress and Finished goods from printed and raw materials. Operations include sewing, grommeting, stretched canvas, display assemblies, and many other similar products. A subset workgroup that reports through the Finishing area is Cut Vinyl.

Responsibilities 

  • Provide leadership and direction for day-to- day operations/workflow.
  • Build and maintain a responsive team, able to support a dynamic, often demanding workload.
  • Address machine, equipment, and material or supply problems
  • Support Estimating, Planning, Sales, PM’s, Prepress, and Finishing staff on job setup questions.
  • Update production schedule- communication of status and timing issues.
  • Schedule PM’s & Repairs- contacting service resources to get machines back in operation.
  • Ensure employees are adequately trained on data collection, machine operation, workflow, and safety.
  • Monitor and evaluate Operator performance regularly.
  • Conduct 1-1 employee discussions in accordance with HR policies and procedure.
  • Assist with decisions on tools/consumables orders – vendors, quantities.
  • Discover/suggest/implement new opportunities for improvement & efficiency.
  • Monitor process/quality of department output. Take corrective actions when necessary.
  • Timely completion of administrative/managerial tasks (Time & Material transaction approvals, Temp Labor Invoice review/approval, PTO approvals)

Qualifications 

Education, Experience and Credentials

  • Diverse Fabric/Textile products production
  • Supervisory/Management experience

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Strong background with fabrics and related finishing processes.
  • Hear, speak and effectively verbally communicate in the English language, including following oral and written instructions, in order to communicate with people inside and outside the organization.
