Direct Mail Account Executive

Job Summary

The Account Executive is responsible for replying to lead sources and providing direct mail marketing solutions, quotes, mailing samples, answering phones, and working with new customer leads. Leads are provided but you are expected to call, offer solutions and email your solutions and supporting documents. You will be assigned a graphic designer and you will communicate the clients design needs to the designer. Other responsibilities may be added based on need and abilities. The Account Executive is responsible for the complete customer experience and is responsible for maintaining and growing sales within their accounts.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Manage cultivation of supplied leads and ongoing client relationships.
    • Client’s main point of contact at The Bernard Group for the brand.
    • Maintain sales process for assigned leads and schedule regular client calls.
    • Handles any client issues and develops solutions and efficiencies.
    • Defines project scope and work closely with assigned designer/project manager.
    • Produces projects under corporate directives.
    • Provide comprehensive quotations for direct mail related projects including list services, print production, and letter shop services. 
  • Estimate postage and specialty services as necessary.
    • Effectively communicates project expectations to team members and stakeholders in a timely and clear manner.
    • Proactively manages change in project scope, identifies potential crises, devises contingency plans, and handles issue mitigation with clients. 
    • Communicates with project manager project time lines and milestones and provide scheduling information to clients.
    • Maintains a strong relationship with the client and assists with growing sales within existing clients.
  • Cross sell additional services offered across The Bernard Group’s platform including print, custom Storefront web site services, and retail merchandising solutions.
  • Builds, develops, and grows any business relationships vital to the success of the project.

Qualifications and Skills

Education, Experience and Credentials

  • Four-year degree in Marketing, Business, Communication or related field preferred or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum of one year of sales or customer service experience in the direct mail or print industry.
  • Basic understanding of direct mail and postage.

 Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel, Google Docs, Gmail, and workflow software
  • Able to successfully collaborate with people across several functions within the organization to achieve results, including senior leadership, Sales, Design, Marketing, Prepress, Printing, Bindery, Letter Shop, Kitting, Shipping, and other departments.
  • Able to conform to shifting priorities, demands and time lines through analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Able to react to project adjustments and alterations promptly and effectively.
  •  Able to make proactive design decisions and move forward with projects based on available information; able to think analytically and make a decision from many alternatives.
  • Able to plan, prioritize, coordinate, and manage own work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Able to work unsupervised, make high level decisions independently, and solve problems effectively and creatively.
  • Able to display high levels of customer service, responding promptly and thoroughly to the inquiries and needs of individuals both internal and external to the organization.
  •  Able to develop and give oral presentations to small groups of individuals inside and outside the organization.
  •  Understand and maintain confidential nature of customer, organization and employee information.
  • Show professional knowledge, proficiency and initiative in achieving goals and meeting standards.
  • Ability to work through department heads to create changes needed to grow accounts.
